When Anh was eight years old, her father died and she found herself in the care of her mother who was suffering from PSD. Anh’s extended family stepped up to help raise her, but there was huge financial pressure on the family to provide education for Anh and her younger brother Minh. When they heard about Christina Noble’s free Sunshine School, they jumped at the opportunity to enroll Anh - despite her being twelve years old starting school for the first time- and her brother. Their financial burden was eased further, when the DUC project provided all the materials needed for Anh and Minh, from school bags to stationary. The two children love being at school and are excited to continue their studies, with the hope of being able to carve a bright future for themselves.

Before Thanh got involved with the Christina Noble Children’s Foundation and the DUC project, she was at risk of being forced to give up her studies altogether, despite being the brightest student in her class due to her parents poor financial situation. Now, she has finished fourth grade and is committed to continuing her studies to help break the poverty cycle. Her family lives on a basic income of $260 per month, so naturally the help and support from the Foundation and the school packs provided by the DUC project have made an incredible difference to Thanh’s life and give her the tools to create her own bright future.
