When Anh was eight years old, her father died and she found herself in the care of her mother who was suffering from PTSD. Anh’s extended family stepped up to help raise her, but there was huge financial pressure on the family to provide education for Anh and her younger brother Minh. When they heard about Christina Noble’s free Sunshine School, they jumped at the opportunity to enroll Anh - despite her being twelve years old starting school for the first time- and her brother. Their financial burden was eased further, when the DUC project provided all the materials needed for Anh and Minh, from school bags to stationary. The two children love being at school and are excited to continue their studies, with the hope of being able to carve a bright future for themselves.
